American Express has a promotion that seems like a pretty easy way to earn a $10 statement credit.  All you need to do is to make a $50 purchase using AMEX’s contactless system (Apple Pay or AMEX Pay) and you will receive a $10 statement credit.

Note that this promotion is by invite only so you may get a notification that you don’t qualify but it’s worth the 30 seconds it takes to register.

Between April 12, 2017 and April 30, 2017, spend $50 or more (after taxes) using contactless at any American Express accepting merchant where contactless payments are accepted, and you can get a $10 statement credit. Simply tap your contactless Card or mobile device while using Apple Pay or Amex Pay within the Amex App on an eligible AndroidTM device and be on your way! Only the first 15,000 eligible Canadian Basic American Express® Consumer Cardmembers to successfully register will be eligible for this offer. Don’t miss out! It’s easy to earn your $10 statement credit.

Here are the steps required to be eligible:

  1. Register your Card
Between April 12, 2017 and April 30, 2017, register your eligible American Express Card
  2. Look for the contactless symbol
Check that the Point of Sale terminal is enabled for American Express contactless payments.
  3. Pay with your registered Card using contactless
Between April 12, 2017 and April 30, 2017, use your registered Card to make a single contactless purchase or cumulative contactless purchases that total $50 or more (after taxes).
  4. Earn a $10 statement credit from American Express.
A $10 statement credit will be automatically applied to your registered Card account.  Limit of one (1) statement credit per registered Card.

You can enroll at https://merchantgeo.secure.force.com/enroll/EnrollmentSitePage?offer=76148CA2017ContactlessRCStatementCredit&language=en-us

Only the first 15,000 registered users are eligible for this promotion.

    • Hi Francois,

Yes, this is invite only as I mentioned in the article but some people don’t check their emails very closely, which is why I would suggest trying to register in the event that one of your cards qualifies. Cheers
