Hey guys and girls.  My sincere apologies for not writing more on the blog as of late … but there’s a reason.  A good reason (I hope).

As you may have figured out, I have been running point on PointsU for the last 2-3 months and while there have certainly been challenges, it has been rewarding!  Today, I am pleased to announce that we are officially LIVE for the 3rd installment of PointsU!

Details

PointsU will be happening on November 3-4, 2017 in Calgary and will be held at the In-Terminal Marriott at YYC.  If you’ve been following along, I did a quick review of the hotel and I’m predicting that it’s going to be the best venue we have held a PointsU at!  If you are an aviation fan like I am, you’ll marvel at the view of the tarmac you get from most of the hotel!

This conference is going to be different than the first two in that the sessions will be interactive.  What does that mean?  Well, instead of being told about what the experts do, we’re going to guide you through it … step-by-step.  Imagine sitting in a room at a session called “How to Manufacture Spend” and actually walking through strategies on how to do it.  Have a question during the session?  Ask it right there and then and get immediate feedback!

We’re currently rounding up our speakers but suffice it to say, we’ll have some great ones!  All the key Canadian Travel Hackers will be there, myself included.

Take a quick look at the video below if you aren’t clear about how it’s going to work:

Pricing

The cost of the conference is $199 and will include breakfast and lunch on the day of the conference as well as the evening reception, hosted by the Marriott!

We are still in the midst of negotiating with sponsors but we have some exciting prizes lined up and while I can’t share with you what they are just quite yet, last year we had some amazing giveaways, including 25,000 SPG points, 10,000 SPG points and 15,000 Aeroplan miles!

If you are among the first 30 people that sign up, you will save $30 off the price of admission!  That’s the deepest discount on the tickets you will see so if you plan on attending, jump on the offer!

More Information

You can sign up for the conference and find more information at www.PointsU.ca but also be sure to read about what the conference was like last year.

With this being in my back yard, I am really hoping to see a lot of my fellow Calgarians out to support the community while also learning a TON!

  1. Is the evening reception by Marriott on Nov 3? And –for those of us who need to make flight reservations–will the conference end at 4 or 5-ish on the 4th, or are you trying/hoping to get a sponsor for a reception at the end as well? Asking because I was quick to book my flights for the Toronto event and missed out on the two receptions (and their prize opportunities) that had not been part of the initial PointsU announcements.

    • Hi Hannah!

Looking very forward to meeting you!

As far as the timing goes, we will have an agenda out shortly but you can expect to see an evening reception on the Friday night as well as the Saturday night. At the moment, it looks like the reception on the Saturday will be hosted by Marriott from 6-9PM.

We’ll definitely keep everyone apprised of the schedule as it evolves. Cheers

    • Hi Dana,

We are currently negotiating the rate but expect it to be around $144/night for the Marriott In-Terminal Hotel. Cheers

  2. Hey Jayce! First time posting on your blog, but have been avidly reading and following all the great content the last few months. Took the plunge and will be attending PointsU 🙂 Looking forward to meeting you in person!

    • Hi Shawn,

Welcome! We are still putting together the schedule but typically we have a welcome reception on the Friday night at around 6pm. On Saturday the conference will start at around 7-8AM and go until 5PM. We’ll have an hour break so people can go freshen up and then we will have our official Saturday reception from 6-9PM. Hope that helps.

      Cheers
